Calculator uses $42,500/mile (midpoint), adjusted by terrain: flat 1.0x, light cover 1.2x, rocky/steep 1.5x. Minimum $5,000 (service entrance). Solar system costs based on NREL and SEIA 2025 installed cost data for off-grid systems with battery storage. The 30% federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) applies through 2032. Battery replacement every 8–12 years ($3,000–$8,000) is not included in solar total. Monthly grid bill estimates: Minimal $80/mo, Small cabin $120/mo, Full cabin $200/mo. These are estimates.
